Pentecost - May 11 - The Christian Pentecost celebrates the spiritual birth of the church as recorded in Acts 2 of the New Testament. The liturgical color for Pentecost is red.
Trinity (White) -
Since the fourteenth century
(1334)Trinityhas
been observed as part of the church year.
In the ecumenical liturgical calendar it follows Pentecost (the culmination of Easter) and begins the next and most lengthy period
in the church year, Ordinary
Time. Ordinary Time continues until the first Sunday of
Advent, the church’s New Years. Trinity Sunday is the only special day that centers
on a doctrine of the church and not an event in the Christian story. From the time Jesus commissioned his
followers to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit
(Matt 28:19) Christians have prayed to God as the Father (or the Creator), and
the Son, (or the Christ), and the Holy Spirit (or Spirit). Every time we say these words we call to
mind the entire Christian story from the birth of Jesus to the descent of the Spirit
and the birth of the church at
Pentecost.

The theme is light, the Light of Christ as experience by the Wise Men in Matthew 2:1-12. The color for Christmas through Epiphany is brilliant white.
ORDINARY TIME -- In the Christian Year, this first period of Ordinary Time begins
after Epiphany (January 6) and continues until Ash Wednesday. The liturgical
color for Ordinary Time is green.
LENT, which begins with Ash Wednesday, is a forty day period of prayer and pondering when Christians, and others who wish to join in, deliberately Cross-examine them selves for the sake of finding the LIFE of Christ in themselves. It is “the season of adolescence” when we try to sort out who we are who we chose to be. In this struggle we are led by the One whose Cross was the declaration of faith in life and the freedom to live it to the fullest

EASTER is more than a day; it is a way of life. That’s why we have a season for it in the church. Beginning with the festival of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Day the season of Easter lasts fifty days and seven Sundays until the Day of Pentecost. It is hoped that by spending seven weeks remembering Christ’s rising from the dead we will have risen to new heights of living Christ’s way of life. The Easter color is white.
